A Message From Our Director: Dr. Michael C. Stephens
|
Of the 115 graduates of the West Virginia Baptist Convention School of Christian Studies, many of our students so hunger to keep learning that they take the current courses over and over again. Teachers frequently hear, "I wish we had more time to dig deeper than the allotted time for this course allows!" All of us who are engaged in any form of regular ministry learn very quickly that we can never know enough. In fact, one definition of a "disciple" is a life long learner, who sits at the feet of the Master." Our instructors do not presume to be "masters," but those who teach often describe their teaching as learning alongside the student, at the feet of the Master, the Lord Jesus Christ. |

In the spirit of this, the deans and advisory team of the School of Christian Studies have initiated the first series of Advanced Level courses. It was agreed that eight of these courses will be offered every two years on an ongoing basis. Since the basic disciplines are covered at the basic level of the School of Christian Studies, like most advanced levels of study, these courses will give the students the opportunity to study where they feel the greatest need and interest. In accord with this philosophy, the selection of courses to be offered will be driven by: 1.) requests of students and 2.) disciplines needed for well-rounded ministry as determined by the deans and director with input by leading pastors and potential presenters. If, after visiting our website, you are interested in becoming involved with the School of Christian Studies Advanced Level of Study, please click on the application for admission. Print out, complete and mail to the address at the bottom of the form. This will enroll you in the program and put you on the mailing list to receive any material concerning this advanced level of study. Mailings will be sent out one month prior to class date. For current class registrations, please click on the "Upcoming Classes" link above at left. If you have any questions, please call 800.879.9822 and ask for Donna or e-mail her at snyder@wvbc.org and she will be happy to assist you. Thank you for your continued interest in expanding your spiritual maturity, biblical knowledge and ministry skills. May God Bless You as You Continue to Serve HIM,
Dr. Michael C. Stephens Director, School of Christian Studies |
